3D Printing Studio in Kraków

Formowanie provides a shared 3D printing studio in Kraków for makers, designers, students, artists, engineers, small businesses and anyone who wants to turn a digital model into a physical object.

Our filament-based FDM 3D printers can be used to create prototypes, replacement parts, tools, brackets, holders, enclosures, architectural models, jigs, fixtures, custom accessories, artwork and small product series. 3D printing is particularly useful when you need something made to a specific size or shape, want to test an idea before producing it another way, or need a part that is difficult to buy commercially.

You can use Formowanie for an individual project, develop prototypes over several visits, or use the makerspace regularly while developing your own products or business. Because 3D printing is part of a wider fabrication studio, printed components can also be combined with ceramics, laser cutting, electronics, woodworking, leatherwork and other processes available at Formowanie.

3D Printers, Materials & What You Can Make

Formowanie has three Creality Ender 3 FDM printers, giving users access to practical desktop manufacturing without having to buy, maintain and find space for several printers of their own.

FDM printing works by melting thermoplastic filament and depositing it layer by layer to build a three-dimensional object from a digital model. It is an accessible and versatile process for both functional parts and visual models.

Common materials include PLA and PETG, with other compatible filaments possible depending on the requirements of the project and printer setup.

3D printing can be used for a very wide range of work, including:

  • Product prototypes and design development

  • Replacement parts and hard-to-find components

  • Brackets, mounts, clips and holders

  • Electronic enclosures and project housings

  • Jigs, guides and workshop fixtures

  • Architectural and presentation models

  • Scale models and educational projects

  • Custom tools and workshop accessories

  • Mould components, patterns and prototypes

  • Decorative objects and artwork

  • Small production runs and customised products

One of the advantages of working inside Formowanie is that a 3D print does not have to be the finished product. It can be one part of a larger project or simply a tool used to make something else.

For example, our pottery studio can use 3D printing to produce custom ribs, stamps, texture rollers, templates and mould components. Printed parts can also be combined with laser-cut panels, electronics, leather, wood or other materials when developing more complex prototypes and products.

From Digital Model to Physical Object

Every 3D print begins with a digital three-dimensional model.

You can design your own part using CAD or 3D modelling software, modify an existing model, or prepare a suitable file from another source. Common formats such as STL and 3MF are then imported into slicing software, where the model is converted into the instructions the printer needs to manufacture it.

Before printing, settings such as layer height, infill, supports, orientation, temperature and print speed need to be considered. These choices affect the strength, appearance, accuracy, material use and printing time of the finished object.

This makes 3D printing useful not only as a production method but also as a rapid development tool. A design can be printed, tested, adjusted digitally and printed again until the result works as intended.

For product designers and small businesses, this can significantly reduce the cost of experimenting with a new idea before committing to more expensive manufacturing methods.

Use the 3D Printing Studio for a Project or Regularly

You do not need to own a 3D printer to develop and manufacture your own designs.

If you only need a printer for a particular project, you can reserve available equipment through Formowanie. For ongoing projects, product development or frequent fabrication, membership provides a more practical way to use the makerspace regularly.

This can be particularly useful for designers, inventors and small businesses that need prototyping capabilities but do not yet need a dedicated workshop of their own. Instead of purchasing several machines, creating a workspace and maintaining the equipment yourself, you can work from an existing makerspace and expand your use as your projects develop.

Formowanie can therefore function as a practical base for moving from an initial idea through prototypes and testing to small-scale production.

3D Printing Workshops in Kraków

If you are new to 3D printing, our workshops provide a practical introduction to the complete process rather than simply showing you how to press “Print”.

You can learn how a digital model becomes a physical object, how to prepare files for printing, how slicing software works and how settings such as layer height, infill, supports and orientation affect the final result.

The workshop also introduces the practical side of operating an FDM printer: loading filament, preparing the build surface, starting a print, understanding common problems and recognising when a print is not progressing correctly.

This is useful for complete beginners as well as designers, students and makers who have worked with 3D models but have little experience manufacturing them.

Once you understand the workflow, you can continue developing and printing your own projects independently at Formowanie.

3D Printing for Prototyping & Small Businesses

One of the most useful applications of 3D printing is the ability to make something once before deciding whether it should be made one hundred times.

A prototype allows you to physically test size, fit, ergonomics, assembly and function before spending money on moulds, tooling or larger-scale production. If something does not work, the digital model can be changed and another version printed quickly.

For small businesses, 3D printing can also be used to manufacture low-volume products where conventional production methods would not make financial sense. Customised parts, specialised tools, fixtures, replacement components and made-to-order products can often be produced without minimum order quantities.

Working inside a makerspace also makes it easier to combine processes. A prototype might include a 3D-printed enclosure, laser-cut panel and electronic components, all developed within the same workspace.

Practical Information for 3D Printing

What can I make with a 3D printer?

Almost any object that can be divided into printable geometry can potentially be produced with FDM printing. Typical projects include prototypes, brackets, holders, cases, enclosures, replacement parts, models, tools, jigs, fixtures, artwork and custom products.

Very large objects can also sometimes be divided into several smaller pieces and assembled after printing.

What materials are available?

Our FDM printers commonly work with PLA and PETG. The best material depends on the intended use of the part, its required strength, temperature resistance, appearance and other properties.

Other compatible materials may be possible depending on the printer and project.

What files do I need?

The most common files used for 3D printing are STL and 3MF files.

The model must still be prepared in slicing software before it can be printed. If you are designing a functional component, providing the original CAD file can also make later adjustments much easier.

Can I bring a model downloaded from the internet?

Yes, provided you have permission to use the model and the file is suitable for printing.

Not every downloadable 3D model has been designed with manufacturing in mind, so some files may require adjustment before they can be printed successfully.

Can I design my own replacement part?

Yes. Replacement parts are one of the most useful applications of 3D printing.

The original component can be measured and recreated in CAD, allowing dimensions or other features to be changed before printing a replacement.

Can I use 3D printing for commercial products?

Yes. The printers can be used for prototyping, product development and suitable small-scale production.

For larger quantities, 3D printing can also be useful for validating the product before moving to another manufacturing process.

How long does a 3D print take?

Print time depends heavily on the size and complexity of the model, layer height, infill, print speed and other settings.

A small component may take less than an hour, while larger or more detailed prints can run for many hours. Slicing the model before printing provides an estimated print time and material usage.

Do I need experience to use the printers independently?

Independent use is best suited to people who understand the basic workflow of preparing and slicing a model, setting up the printer and identifying common printing problems.

If you are completely new to 3D printing, we recommend beginning with a workshop so that you understand both the digital preparation and physical operation of the printer before working independently.

Can I use other Formowanie equipment with my 3D-printed project?

Yes. This is one of the main advantages of working inside a multidisciplinary makerspace.

3D-printed parts can be combined with laser cutting, electronics, pottery, leatherworking, woodworking, vinyl cutting and other fabrication processes depending on the project.

Do I need to be a member?

No. Equipment can be booked for individual projects where available.

Membership is more suitable for people who want to use the 3D printers or other Formowanie equipment regularly.
