Pottery & Ceramics Coworking Studio in Kraków

Pottery Formowanie Krakow Makerspace

A Fully Equipped Pottery & Ceramics Coworking Studio in the Center of Kraków

Formowanie is a pottery and ceramics coworking studio in Kraków where members can use a fully equipped workspace much like their own private studio.

The space is designed for different ways of working. Some members use the studio to produce ceramics commercially, others come to develop personal projects, learn pottery as a new hobby, practise independently after workshops, or simply spend time making alongside other creative people. The shared environment also makes it easy to exchange ideas, learn from one another and collaborate when useful.

The studio includes four pottery wheels, large worktables for hand-building and sculpting, shared pottery tools, dedicated glazing space, member storage and kilns for both bisque and glaze firing. Clay and BOTZ PRO glazes are available directly at the studio.

Members can also make use of Formowanie’s wider makerspace facilities. 3D printers can be used to create custom pottery tools, stamps, ribs, texture tools and mould components, while laser cutting can be used for templates, guides and other fabrication work. Screen printing facilities are also available for projects that extend beyond ceramics.

Different access options and memberships are available depending on how often you want to use the studio, from occasional studio access to regular monthly or annual membership.

Pottery Tools & Equipment at Formowanie

The pottery studio is set up for the complete ceramics process, from preparing clay and forming pieces through to glazing and firing. Members and studio users have access to four pottery wheels, large shared tables for hand-building and sculpting, glazing space, shared pottery tools and shelving for work in progress.

Formowanie also has kilns for both bisque and glaze firing, allowing you to make, finish and fire your work in the same studio. Clay and BOTZ PRO glazes are available on site, so you do not need to bring all of your own materials.

Because Formowanie is part of a wider makerspace, ceramic projects can also make use of digital fabrication tools. Our 3D printers can be used to produce custom pottery ribs, stamps, texture tools, mould components and other specialised tools, while the laser cutter can be useful for creating templates, guides and forms.

Available in the pottery studio: 4 pottery wheels · Hand-building tables · Kilns · Glazing area · Shared ceramic tools · Shelving and storage · Clay and glazes · Access to 3D printing and laser cutting

Pottery Workshops in Kraków

If you are new to ceramics, a workshop is the easiest way to start using the studio with guidance before moving on to independent work. We also offer an introductory private lesson to get started showing the basics of machine use, basic centering techniques, and throwing on the pottery wheel for new beginner members.

Formowanie offers both pottery-wheel workshops and hand-building workshops, giving beginners the chance to learn the basic techniques involved in working with clay. Pottery-wheel sessions focus on skills such as preparing the clay, centering, opening and shaping a form, while hand-building workshops explore techniques that do not require a wheel, including slab building, pinching, coiling and sculptural work.

Workshops are also suitable for people who already have some experience and want to improve a specific technique, return to pottery after a break, or simply work on a project with guidance available.

After completing a workshop, you can continue practising independently by booking pottery equipment by the hour or by joining the studio through one of our pottery memberships. This makes it possible to move gradually from learning the basics to developing your own work, whether pottery becomes a hobby, a creative outlet or part of your professional practice.

Additional Information

Do I need to be a member to use the pottery studio?

No. Individual equipment and studio time can be booked through our online booking system. Membership is better suited to people who plan to use the studio regularly and want ongoing access, included wheel hours and member rates.

Can beginners use the studio?

Yes. Beginners are welcome, although we recommend starting with one of our pottery-wheel or hand-building workshops if you have never worked with clay before. After learning the basics, you can continue practicing independently in the studio. For new monthly members who are beginners and want to just try it for yourself we can give you an introduction instructions on how to use the pottery wheel along with basics of centering and throwing.

Can I make ceramics commercially at Formowanie?

Yes. The studio can be used for personal projects, hobby work or commercial ceramic production. Members are free to develop their own collections, prototypes and products using the available studio equipment.

Can I bring my own clay or ceramics for firing?

In most cases, yes, but please speak with us before firing clay or glazed work produced outside Formowanie. We need to know the type of clay, glaze and recommended firing temperature to make sure it is compatible with the kiln and other work being fired.

Are clay and glazes available at the studio?

Yes. Clay and BOTZ PRO glazes are available for purchase directly at Formowanie, so you do not need to bring your own materials. You are also welcome to use approved materials of your own.

Can I leave unfinished work at the studio?

Members have access to designated shelving for work in progress and materials. Storage for occasional studio users depends on availability and the length of the booking.

Can I use other Formowanie equipment for ceramic projects?

Yes. Ceramic projects can also make use of other makerspace equipment where appropriate. For example, 3D printing can be used to create custom stamps, ribs, texture tools and mould components, while laser cutting can be useful for templates and guides.

Where can I find the studio rules and agreement?

The current pottery studio agreement and usage rules are available below as a PDF. We recommend reviewing them before joining or using the studio regularly.
